permission post + power explanation

"How do I fight it when the madness made it? When I'm the bomb?"

Madness, as defined by the the comic, is a stream of cosmic energy that can warp both people's minds and reality. In the past Meta harnessed and used it as a weapon, but its use was banned after many of its users failed to harness it properly and died as a result. It was considered on the same level as biological and chemical weapons.

For the sake of gameplay, the nanites in Loma will greatly cut down the power the Madness has. However, all her powers are derived from it and it can greatly affect anyone she targets with it. Her control over the Madness is cut into three different areas that it can affect.

Emotional

The ability to either amplify or weaken someone's current emotional state. If you are content, she can blow that into full joy. If you are terrified, she can mellow you down to anxious. She cannot replace someone's current emotional state with a new one (i.e. she can't just make a sad person suddenly happy), only influence someone's present feelings. This is the weakest form of her Madness manipulation and won't last more than a couple hours.

Mental

This pertains to Loma's power to induce hallucinations. Auditory and visual. She can affect singular people in different ways at the same time, or create a large scale hallucination that affects anyone within a hundred feet of the center at maximum. The hallucination can be a warped memory, a nightmare in the day, your favorite storybook characters alive. It can be just about anything you can think of, but it isn't real - only in the head of the character.

Note Loma does not have the ability to influence what your character would see if they are induced with Madness, though she can attach an emotion to the type of hallucination if she chooses. This only doesn't apply if she is the source of the hallucination herself in a group setting, as opposed to an individual infliction. Loma can also control the strength of any hallucination she creates, so it could be something so minor that your character could obviously tell it isn't real.

She is constantly experiencing hallucinations as a side-effect of exposure to Madness within her. So if she talks about some of the weird shit she is seeing, it's because that is what she's seeing and not your character necessarily!

Physical

In the strongest application of madness, Loma can transform existing objects and change their form. She uses this power usually to just alter the source of the Madness, the M-Vest she wears, but she has changed people's ages and discharged powerful psychic blasts of energy with it. This is where the Madness becomes harder to control, and leaks out. Loma won't really be using this aspect of her power frequently, and it will usually be done with plotting behind it.

PERMISSIONS FORM
This is the part that you fill out. The Emotional and Mental part will be the focus here, as any use of the Physical aspect on other characters will predominantly be used in plots that will be mod cleared. Note that Loma will not be able to affect anyone with her powers from long distance. She'll need to have direct eye contact to affect her target with Madness. So none of this will apply to a network thread.

1. Can Loma affect the way your characters feels in the moment, either by amplifying or weakening their current state?
2. Can Loma cause your character to hallucinate? Anything super major will be cleared ahead of time, but this is more for minor ones that she might pull on people for kicks and laughs.
3. Would your character even be affected by her powers? Those with mental defenses thanks to their powers or biology apply here. If you don't want to opt out completely though we can discuss.
4. Do you want to opt out completely of being affected by Loma? You can change your mind at any time, but I understand if someone doesn't want to be hit by the possibility of this! Feel free to bring this up with me in private as well.
